Victorian Rocking Horse
on Bow Rocker

The original style of rocking horse until superseded in the late Victorian period by the "Safety Swinger".
It is a friendly horse.
The hand-made leather saddle ,bridle and martingale are fixed, but stirrup hand-made leathers are fully adjustable.
It is mounted on a deep, boat shaped rocker that was typical of the earlier horses. The large rocker enables the horse to have a more stretched stance than when mounted on a safety swinger. Where space is limited the rockers can be made shorter if required.
This horse lends itself well to being subtly aged to give an antique appearance, either slightly as in the illustration here or more extremely according to taste.
